The Rabbinical
Assembly of Israel ("Knesset ha-Rabbanim b'Yisrael"), numbering some 150 rabbis,
is the organization of Masorti rabbis living and working in Israel. (It is part
of the international Rabbinical Assembly
of Conservative Rabbis worldwide.) The Rabbinical Assembly provides religious
services and teaching Torah through our congregations, our Religious
Affairs Bureau, our Conversion Institute
and our educational programs in an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for the
individual.
A major activity of the Rabbinical Assembly of Israel is the Va'ad Halacha (Law
Committee, a decision-making body in matters of Jewish law which directly impact
the lives of our constituents and others in Israel. The committee is composed
of seven rabbis from the Rabbinical Assembly in Israel. Anyone with a question
relating to halacha may turn to the committee for an answer. The committee publishes
its responsa each year on matters of agriculture, prayer, ritual, and the State
of Israel.
